Funeral Celebrant Training

Becoming an NFFD Accredited Funeral Celebrant

As traditional funeral services decrease in popularity, there is a growing demand from consumers for trained funeral celebrants to conduct ceremonies that previously would have been carried out by a religious minister.

In response to this demand, we are delighted to announce that from September 2014 we will be conducting fortnightly NFFD-certified Funeral Celebrant Training courses. Designed and developed in close conjunction with a number of industry experts, each course is held over 3 days at our training facility in West Yorkshire.

A career as a Funeral Celebrant is an incredibly satisfying and rewarding way to earn a living. And with most operators earning between £100 and £200 per hour, it's incredibly lucrative, too! It's also an ideal career for those who perhaps aren't looking for full-time employment, or who want to supplement an existing income. So whatever your background, whatever your experience, get in touch today for more information on how to become an NFFD accredited Funeral Celebrant.

Course Benefits

  • 2 years' FREE Membership of the National Federation of Funeral Directors. As such, you will be welcome to utilise our nationally recognised NFFD logo and branding on your website and marketing paraphernalia.
  • Your business will be added to the Funeral Directors Register (www.funeraldirectorsregister.com) together with a special featured advert stating that you are an approved Member of the National Federation of Funeral Directors.
  • Enjoy the satisfaction of being able to ease people's sense of loss by learning how to deliver beautiful funeral ceremonies.
  • Learn how to distinguish yourself from your competitors and maximise your business
  • You will also be invited to attend a one-day course FREE OF CHARGE to teach you how to supplement your income through the sale of pre-paid funeral plans. Given the environment that celebrants routinely work in, selling funeral plans is a brilliant way for you to easily generate an extra £500 - £1500 per week on top of your earnings as a straightforward celebrant.

Course Information

The NFFD's Funeral Celebrancy Training Course has been developed in close conjunction with experienced, qualified, funeral celebrants and funeral directors. Held over 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) the first 2 days are spent at our private church chapel in West Yorkshire and are dedicated purely to the art of funeral celebrancy. The training is conducted by Rev Victor Johnson. In addition to being an Ordained Priest of the Church of England, Vic also has over 20 years' experience conducting contemporary, civil-celebrant funeral ceremonies. With his jovial, effervescent, personality, and enormous wealth and breadth of experience in the field, Vic's training is always informative, on-point, interesting and entertaining. The 3rd day is spent with an NFFD approved funeral director trainer, and focuses on how to market your business effectively, how to generate extra income (over and above what you earn as a celebrant), and how to distinguish yourself from your competitors.

Though anyone is welcome to apply to take part in our Funeral Celebrancy Training Programme, as a trade association thoroughly committed to increasing service standards within the funeral industry, we have a duty to ensure candidates possess the character and constitution required to succeed in this important, unique, and specialised field. To this end, you will be required to pass a telephone screening process before we can accept you onto the course. Assuming you meet the qualifying criteria, then subject to availability you will be able to select the course date of your choice.

If you would like to discuss any of the above prior to applying the course, then please contact us by email at candidateselection@nffd.co.uk or by calling us on 01937 919045.
