NFFD MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT.

Funeral Directors Code of Conduct

NFFD MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT 2016:

Over the last 5 years, the NFFD has come under a huge amount of scrutiny from within the funeral industry for trying to aid forward-thinking funeral directors in modernising an old and tired “club”. We work to assist funeral directors to reduce their overheads, improve on business practices and, ultimately, reduce their costs for the benefit of the consumer.

There are two other major trade bodies within the industry. These are the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) – All three of us are recognised by the government as self-regulating bodies - https://www.gov.uk/after-a-death/arrange-the-funeral

Both NAFD and SAIF offer a range of products and services designed to regulate the practices of their members and ensure that bereaved families are in the best of hands. It would have been somewhat impractical for the NFFD to try to offer similar services as there is no need to fix something that isn’t broken. With that in mind, the NFFD specialised in offering benefits that aren’t ordinarily available to funeral directors, designed to make them more efficient businesses.

Our code of conduct is designed, therefore, to encourage our members to engage with their local community, be clear and transparent on pricing and act in a manner befitting for a professional undertaker. In addition, the NFFD’s branding strategy calls for all members to proudly display their membership.
